EmilianStanev (the pen name of Nikola Stoyanov Stanev) is a world famousBulgarian past master of short story. He was born on February 28, 1907in Veliko Tarnovo. Later his family moved to the town of Elena.
Thewriter studied Finance and credit at the Sofia Free University. Heworked as an officer at the Sofia municipality, and afterward as amanager of a shooting near the town of Lovech.
In 1931 he startedpublishing his works. Some of his most notable works are Primamliviteblyasatzi (Alluring Glitters), Valchi noshti (Wolf's Nights), V tihanosht (In Silent Night), Tarnovskata tsaritsa (The Queen of Tarnovo),as his most remarkable book is maybe Kradetsat na praskovi (The PeachThief). The unforgettable Bulgarian actress Nevena Kokanova starred asElisaveta in the book’s screening. Emilian Stanev is author of ever somany children and youth books – Lakomoto meche (The Glutton BearWhelp), Chernishka, etc. He died on March 15, 1979 in Sofia.
