The huge project to turn the Rhodope Mountain small town of Chepelare into an international sports and mountain resort is under way now. The "Mechi Chal" Project's budget of 50 mln. Euro features 3 steps of construction of facilities within a 5-year period.

The project includes reconstruction of the existing ski lift; construction of a new one, with 2.7 km length; snowmaking cannon system construction to operate a 3.5 km ski piste. The project also features the construction of a large number of summer facilities and a vacation village for the tourists.
